Cycle to see the Red Squirrels
Hire a bike from the Eco Centre and ride down to Formby Point, home of the red squirrel. Maps are available from the centre, and if you don't fancy the ride back you can get the train! Bikes can be taken free of charge on the Merseyrail network, and there is no need to book first.
Research has shown that the red squirrel population is making a healthy comeback so you are more likely to see them now than a number of years ago.
During the summer months the reserve gets really busy with lots of cars, bike is the ideal mode of transport and its only 2 minutes from Freshfield railway station.
